Madeiros, Shabazz in court

Madeiros, 64, who is serving a three-year prison term for stealing from a client, faces 14 counts of making payments totalling $210,000 outside of Bermuda without permission of the controller.
The offences are alleged to have occurred between December of 1988 and December of 1990.
Madeiros was ordered to stand trial on July 6.
Calvin Shabazz, 44, of Warwick, who is appealing his recent conviction for stealing $121,000 from the Bank of Bermuda, is in custody awaiting sentencing.
Before Puisne Judge the Hon. Mr. Justice Ward yesterday, a tentative trial date of May 10 was set on three counts of theft and five counts of fraudulent false accounting.
Under these counts, Shabazz is alleged to have stolen $43,500 from the Bank of Bermuda.
