Magistrate `a Nazi' -- claim
Bourne of being a Nazi yesterday after being committed to treatment at St.
Brendan's Psychiatric Hospital for an indeterminate period of time.
John Hayward, 31, was sentenced following a social inquiry report ordered at the end of a trial earlier this month in which Hayward, of no fixed abode, was found guilty of breaking and entering.
"I've been in prison for 20 years because of Nazis like you!'' said Mr.
Hayward during the proceedings.
Mr. Bourne's sentence also took in to account another charge of removing a car without permission of the owner.
Hayward was originally charged with the unlawful entry, burglary with intent, housebreaking and wilful damage of three East End residences, including his father's.
Hayward's father and his brother-in-law, David Chew, testified at the trial.
Both men told the court that a registered letter advising Hayward to "stay away'' from their properties had been officially hand-delivered to him on July 17, but they claimed Hayward broke into both of the homes two days later.
The social inquiry report included statements from doctors diagnosing Hayward as mentally ill.
