Court for having unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl.

The 40-year-old man was not required to enter a plea as the case will go before a Supreme Court judge and jury.

He is charged with four counts relating to the girl three of which relate to incidents in three parishes while the girl was under 14 years.

The other charge relates to unlawful carnal knowledge after the girl turned 14 this summer.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner complained the charge sheet was not as clear it could have been, saying a person should know the particulars of what he or she is accused of.

While prosecutor Juan Wolffe appeared to be eager to argue the point -- Mr.

Warner convinced him to amend the indictment, leaving four of the original seven charges.

Mr. Warner said: "I understand what you're saying. But certainly on the face of it these charges are duplicitous.

"It appears that he has been charged over and over again. This information is duplicitous. Why don't we amend this and exclude others and then at another time you can amend it again.'' Mr. Warner ordered the man freed on $5,000 bail with one surety, and said he must surrender all travel documents, report to Hamilton Police Station twice a week, and not interfere with any witnesses.
