But Vance Ratteray, of Cottage Hill, Hamilton Parish pleaded not guilty to the charge of using offensive language and causing a disturbance on October 17 in the grounds of Mid Ocean Golf Club in Tucker's Town.

He admitted causing bodily harm to P.c. Devon Richardson when she attempted to restrain him by punching her and kicking her in the stomach.

Ratteray, who already has a long history of similar offences spanning 30 years, admitted stomping several times on the foot of P.c. Richardson while she lay on the ground and breaking a toe on her right foot.

But he pleaded not guilty to the charge of resisting arrest, saying he had not intended to harm the Police officer and any injury caused was accidental.

Ratteray told the court that he was drunk at the time of the incident and felt that he had been unfairly treated by the staff at the Mid Ocean Golf Course.

However, Magistrate Edward King said this type of behaviour could not be tolerated and gave Ratteray a six-month sentence with a two year suspension and a fine of $500.
