Man arrested in prowling case

A St. David's man told them that someone had tried to break into his Texas Road home between Monday and Tuesday morning.
The offender was unsuccessful in his attempts to gain entry and nothing was reported stolen.
In a separate incident, a man living at Wellington Road, St. George's was awoken after 9 p.m. on Tuesday by the noise of a prowler outside his home.
Police were summoned and found a man sitting on the complainant's second-storey balcony.
They arrested the man for prowling and took him to St. George's Police Station. He was expected to appear in court in the near future.
And around 3.15 a.m. yesterday, Police received another report of prowling.
This time it was in the Cut Road, St. George's area.
But they found no-one after arriving at the scene and searching the area.
WAR VETS GET THEIR PARADE VET War vets get their parade War veterans will parade through the streets of Hamilton to mark the 50th anniversary of the end of the Second World War and VJ Day.
A church service will be held on Sunday, September 10, at the Hamilton Cathedral which will be attended by members of the Bermuda War Veterans Association and local dignitaries with the Bermuda Regiment Band playing.
Following the service, the veterans will march past His Excellency the Governor, Lord Waddington, who will take the salute on the steps of the Cathedral.
The route for the march will be Church Street, Parliament Street, Front Street past the Cenotaph and finishing in the grounds of the Cabinet Building.
MAN INJURED AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS AC Man injured at traffic lights A workman directing traffic had to be taken to hospital after being struck by a car on Tuesday night.
The water main near the Paget traffic lights had been knocked out and the workman was using stop-go signs to direct cars when he was struck. He was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital after the accident which happened at about 8 p.m.
MAN FINED $850 FOR CANNABIS CTS Man fined $850 for cannabis A 22-year-old St. George's man was this week fined $750 for possessing cannabis.
Art Tyrell, of Silk Alley, pleaded guilty to the offence in Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
Crown Counsel Ms Jo-Dina Pearman said narcotics officers were at Turkey Hill Park in St. George's on October 12, 1994 when they saw Tyrell, who was in the park along with other youths, drop a plastic bag containing plant material.
The bag was seized and Tyrell was taken to St. George's Police Station.
A total of 15.9 grams of cannabis was found in the bag.
Tyrell's lawyer Mr. Philip Perinchief said Tyrell admitted to possessing cannabis, but not in the amount he was charged for.
Despite his client's guilty plea, Mr. Perinchief said Tyrell claimed he only had "spliffs'' of cannabis and that the plastic bag was not his.
STRAYING DOG COSTS MAN $250 CTS Straying dog costs man $250 A 71-year-old Hamilton Parish man was this week fined $250 for allowing his dog to stray.
John Trimingham, of Paynters Road, pleaded guilty to the charge in Magistrates' Court.
Prosecutor Sgt. John Dale said Trimingham's two dogs barked at a woman cyclist who was riding past Trimingham's house.
The larger of the two dogs ran onto the street and chased the woman for 25 metres.
Sgt. Dale said the barking dog scared the woman so she informed the Police of the incident.
Yesterday, in court Trimingham told Acting Magistrate the Wor. Kim White that he was in the process of installing invisible fencing to keep the dog on his property.
