Man blows up when luggage is inspected
Peterson.
The 30-year-old exploded in a fit of fury when the female Customs officer set about inspecting his luggage.
"Every time I come back I get searched,'' he fumed, apparently throwing in a few expletives for good measure.
After being warned about his behaviour Peterson was arrested and charged with using offensive words.
Yesterday he appeared before Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis, who had a few stern words of his own.
Mr. Francis told Peterson: "In a public place like the Airport we can't put up with this kind of behaviour.'' He added it was particularly reprehensible to use such language to a female Customs officer.
Prosecutor Insp. Peter Duffy said the incident occurred on September 25 in the arrivals area of the Civil Air Terminal.
Peterson presented himself to the Customs Officer at about 3.20 p.m.
"As he was inspected he became irate and began shouting,'' said Insp. Duffy.
He added the arrivals hall was full of passengers.
Peterson, of Glebe Road, Pembroke, admitted using offensive words, but denied uttering some of the expletives alleged in the Police report.
Mr. Francis fined him $250.
