assaulting and wounding an on-duty Police officer.

Robert Rudolph Hudson, of Derwent Lane, admitted violently resisting arrest, escaping custody, and causing more than $60 worth of damage to a Bermuda Electric Light Company glass door last Friday.

But he denied the assault charge which stems from his arrest near Toys 'N' Stuff on Reid and Church streets last Friday.

During the arrest, Police said, Insp. Coghlin Gibbons sustained cuts to his arm and a finger when a window at the store was smashed.

He required 18 stitches to his arm and four to one of his fingers.

Prosecuting Sgt. Earl Kirby asked for a trial on the assault charge.

He did not give information on the offences that Hudson admitted because he said they all arose out of the same incident.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis set a trial date for January 14.

Hudson was granted $500 bail with a like surety.
