The man -- who cannot be identified as it would lead to identifying the victim -- shook his bowed head in disbelief as he listened to the verdict. Meanwhile the victim, who was seated at the back of the courtroom, wept silently.

It took the eight-woman, four-man jury almost two hours to return their ten-to-two majority decision.

On Monday the tearful woman had told the court that her ex-boyfriend raped her twice and told her he wanted her to have his baby.

Chief Justice Austin Ward ordered the man remanded in custody at Westgate Correctional Facility until his sentencing which will take place this morning.
