was ordered to perform 240 hours of community service on Wednesday.

John Philpott had been remanded in custody since May 28 while a social inquiry report was completed. He admitted in Magistrates' Court that he received a red Yamaha which had been taken from Prospect Primary.

Defence lawyer Elizabeth Christopher argued that Philpott had spent the past 21 years with a clean record. But Acting Senior Magistrate Cheryl-Ann Mapp told him: "You seem to be easily led by other people. You've allowed yourself to be used, but you must take responsibility for your own actions.'' The 240 hours of community service are to be completed within 12 months.
