He was riding his motorbike east on North Shore Road when he was in collision with a truck driver near the entrance of Clay House Inn, a Police spokesperson said.
The 44-year-old truck driver, a Southampton resident, was not injured.
Police investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident are appealing for witnesses. They can contact P.c. Walter Jackson.
The 73-year-old Devonshire woman speared by steel rods on Monday afternoon was yesterday in "serious but stable'' condition.
She is still under intensive care at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
The woman landed on the rods after falling from a ladder at Garthowen Estates on Middle Road, Devonshire.
