Man scuffles with Police after exit from court
fight with Police officers and was brought back to court yesterday.
The 19-year-old from Happy Valley Road, Smith's Parish had been in court on other matters and was bailed pending a social inquiry report.
However, Smith left the court before signing the bail forms and was approached by Police officers. He ran away but was apprehended and during the ensuing struggle, he kicked an officer in the groin area.
Once further support arrived, Smith was arrested for assaulting a Police officer.
He told the court yesterday that he was harassed and had walked out of court because he thought he could do so. He said he could not explain why he hit the officer.
Senior Magistrate Will Francis said he could not understand what had troubled Smith but felt the man was "making a mountain out of a molehill.'' He adjourned the matter until October 30 pending the social inquiry report and bailed Smith for $500.
