Man stole two magazines
For Cox was fined $100 at Magistrates' Court after admitting taking the two magazines from the shelves, stuffing them inside his trousers and trying to leave the store.
Cox, 37, of, Glebe Road, Pembroke, however, was spotted by a security guard on duty at the Phoenix in Hamilton's Reid Street and challenged.
Police were called and Cox later admitted the theft in a statement to officers.
Cox pleaded guilty to stealing the magazines, worth just $16.80, from the Phoenix on May 31. Senior Magistrate Will Francis fined the accused $100.
In a separate matter, Cox pleaded guilty to being drunk and incapable in Point Pleasant Park, Hamilton, on June 15.
Police Prosecutor Sgt. Anthony Mouchette told the court Police officers spotted Cox lying face down on the grass on the morning of Sunday, June 15.
Mr. Francis fined Cox another $100 for the offence.
