A Police spokesman said: "There was a dispute. A man came out of a residence in Middletown Lane at about 2 p.m.

"He was approached by another man who he knew.

"The guy appeared to have a knife. He gave him two cuts to the face, one on each side, which required stitches. But there was no indication of a fight.'' Police could not give details about the extent of the injuries. But the spokesman said: "The wounds are not life threatening. He was taken to hospital.''
