Department of Child and Family Services Director Luelle Todd said yesterday that companies and organisations to "sensitise'' the community to the importance of the family and the role it plays in the development of children.

Among the ideas being suggested by the department are: "implementing a warm line'' for parents to check on their children after school; reviewing workplace policies for their sensitivity to families; special days for bringing children into the workplace; and including information about employees' families when being honoured for awards.

WAREHOUSE BREAK-IN CRM Warehouse break-in Police are investigating a break-in at Williams Trading Company's warehouse which went up in smoke earlier this month.

Spokesperson Evelyn James Barnett said someone broke into what is left of the warehouse on Fairylands Road, Pembroke, sometime between 2 p.m. on Saturday and 12.30 p.m. on Sunday.

The culprit gained entry to various parts of the warehouse through the fire damaged areas.

Mrs. James Barnett said tools and equipment boxes were strewn about the floor.

She could not say if anything had been stolen.

POLICE PROBE ATTACK CRM Police probe attack Police are investigating an assault on a Warwick man who was hit over the head with a bottle.

Police spokesperson Evelyn James Barnett said the 30-year-old man was visiting a friend on Curving Avenue, Hamilton on Sunday when the assailant arrived and told the man to leave.

As the man began to depart, he was grabbed by the back of his neck and shoved.

Once outside, the assailant picked up a bottle and threatened to kill the man, Mrs. James Barnett said. He then hit the victim on the head with the bottle.

The victim escaped when a bystander came to his assistance.

A 33-year-old Pembroke man is helping Police with inquiries.

WARWICK HOME BURGLED CRM Warwick home burgled A 66-year-old Warwick man's Harbour Road residence was broken into some time during the last two weeks, Police said yesterday.

An undisclosed quantity of cash -- US dollars and coins -- were stolen and jewellery, including several pairs of earrings, two gold bracelets and a pearl necklace, was also taken.

The total value of the jewellery was estimated at $3,000.
