Ministers get straight down to work after swearing-in ceremony

Two Ministers were sworn in yesterday and immediately went into a Cabinet meeting.

Youth Development Minister the Hon. Pamela Gordon and Technology Minister the Hon. John Barritt were officially sworn in during a ceremony with Deputy Governor Mr. Peter Willis at Government House.

The new Health Minister, the Hon. Harry Soares, is still off the Island and has yet to be sworn in.

Nine Ministers were also sworn in as Justices of the Peace, a title they will keep for life. Previously, Government Ministers were only appointed JPs for the duration of their Cabinet roles.

Mr. Barritt and Ms Gordon were sworn in as JPs, as were Tourism Minister the Hon. David Dodwell, Home Affairs Minister the Hon. Quinton Edness, Finance Minister the Hon. Grant Gibbons and Transport Minister the Hon. Wayne Furbert.

Also being appointed JPs were Environment Minister the Hon. Tim Smith, Works Minister the Hon. Leonard Gibbons, and Deputy Premier the Hon. Jerome Dill.
