Mottley asked to stay longer

Deputy Governor Peter Willis told The Royal Gazette that Elliott Mottley will not be returning to Barbados at the end of this month but will be staying on "a few more months''.

And he said officials were examining the Attorney General's post in a bid to decide how best to fill it when Mr. Mottley bids Bermuda farewell.

"We are continuing to look at how the post will be filled,'' Mr. Willis said.

Mr. Mottley said he was extending his stay in Bermuda because he was asked to do so.

"The Deputy Governor asked me to stay on and I agreed,'' he said, adding no date has been fixed for his departure.

Last month, Government House Registrar Paul Dryden said about five applications for the Attorney General post have been received, including two from Bermudians .
