Alexander Troy Brangman was immediately hauled back into Magistrates' Court by Police.

And Senior Magistrate Will Francis summoned Brangman's mother, asking her to keep him away from his wife for a month -- until he goes to trial.

Brangman, 35, of Happy Valley Road, Pembroke, on Thursday denied unlawfully detaining his wife against her will.

But he admitted breaching a protection order by physically and verbally abusing her.

Mr. Francis adjourned both matters until November 3.

But less than 30 minutes after he ordered Brangman to stay away from his wife as a bail condition, the defendant was back in court for breaching the order.

Duty counsel Tyrone Chin said Brangman had not realised "no contact whatsoever'' meant he could not telephone his wife.

He said the accused only rang her to find out what time their son was due for a swim meet.
