Freeman Brangman, 32, of East Avenue, was caught on the grounds of the Southampton Rangers Sports Club earlier this year with a pipe which had cocaine residue in it.
And Magistrate Edward King slapped a $1,000 "no-go'' premium -- up from the standard $250 fine -- because Brangman was busted in a zone frequented by youngsters.
Upon sentencing, Brangman pleaded he had a child to support and requested a softer fine.
"You should have been thinking about that when you were indulging in foolishness,'' Mr. King replied before levying the $1,000 fine.
