Police are investigating several recent robberies.
Police spokesperson Evelyn James Barnett said KAOS Nursery on Laffan Street was broken into over the weekend.
The building was secured by the supervisor around 5.30 p.m. on Friday, but when staff arrived on Monday morning they discovered the nursery had been ransacked.
A one-year-old turtle was stolen from a tank, and crayons were scattered all over the floor with other school items.
Investigators have not ruled out the possibility that children were involved.
In a separate Laffan Street incident, a 56-year-old man was found with injuries and lying on his side under a tree in the area of Bull's Head car park just before 2.30 p.m. on Sunday.
The man told Police he was approached around 2 p.m. by a woman and two males at the entrance of his residence on Laffan Street.
The men began to beat him with a stick and a pipe, while the woman smashed the front door with a stick, entered his home and stole a bag containing an undisclosed quantity of cash.
Mrs. James Barnett said the man was sent to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, although the extent of his injuries were unknown.
In another incident, a Pembroke resident reported a break-in at his home on Deep Bay Lane on Monday.
He said the culprits entered the ground level apartment of his residence and made a search of the rooms, although nothing was apparently stolen.

Police said the New Hampshire couple were awakened in their Palm Reef hotel room around 4 a.m. by an intruder.
They saw a man described as brown-skinned, about six feet tall, and of slim build, departing the room via the patio.
The woman's white leather purse containing an undisclosed quantity of cash, personal items and a Visa card was stolen.
Police are seeking witnesses who may have seen a fleeing suspect who attempted to rob the Paraquet Restaurant in Paget early on Monday morning.
A man entered the restaurant just after 1 a.m. with a three-foot-long machete, but fled when he was unable to get any cash out of the register.
He escaped the premises on the back of his accomplice's motorcycle. They drove west on South Road.
The first man was described as over six feet tall, of slim build, and approximately 23 years of age.
