of the Bermuda Hotal Association said last night.

Occupancy projections for June to the end of August put the industry on pace to continue hotel recovery from last year.

"Projections for the next three months are encouraging in comparison to those same three months in 1993,'' Mr. Barker said.

"Barring some unforseen event or a dramatic change in booking patterns, I am reasonably confident that final occupancies for June, July and August will exceed levels achieved last year,'' BHA projections show hotels in June 83.5 percent occupied compared to a 80.9 percent occupancy last year. Projections for July and August are ahead of last year's projections.

Mr. Barker also reported May occupancies finished at 82.2 percent, down from last year's 83.9 percent.

One positive development during the month was an increase in visitors' average length of stay to 4.7 days from 4.2 days.
