Off-duty constable hit with concrete block
sat by the side of the road in his car.
Police spokesperson Evelyn James Barnett said the incident took place on Sunday night on St. Monica's Road in Pembroke.
Shortly after 11.15 p.m. the man had a problem with his car stereo and pulled over to examine it.
As he did so, he heard a cycle approach and someone shouting. He saw the cycle stop behind his car and the pillion passenger -- whom he knew -- approached the car shouting loudly and carrying a concrete block.
The officer ignored the man who walked around to the open driver-side window and threw the block through it.
It hit the man in his head and shoulder and split his ear open.
The attacker fled, but was later arrested along with the rider of the cycle.
They are due to appear in court shortly.
The officer went to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he received eight stitches to close the wound and was later released.
