invited to an open house hosted by the Saltus Graduate Year.

The event, organised by SGY students and teachers, will take place on Monday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Saltus Senior School hall.

The open house will enable fourth and fifth year students enrolled in any of the Island's secondary schools along with their parents to learn more about the SGY advantage.

Visitors to the evening open house will have the chance to meet with staff and students as well as tour the SGY Reiss Centre facility, the Lines Computer Centre and the Butterfield Library.

"We look forward to meeting interested students and their parents,'' said SGY head Christina Wrigley. "We have found that, by arranging a programme in which our current students act as hosts and hostesses, the atmosphere is friendly and informal and our visitors learn a great deal.'' Saltus director of development Daniel Blagg added: "The SGY programme builds upon Saltus' former and successful Post Graduate Year curriculum that, for well over 20 years, has prepared hundreds of young Bermudians for entry to colleges and universities in the US, UK and Canada.'' One of the highlights of the SGY experience is the annual Canadian college tour which was designed to help students and their parents decide on a suitable college setting and academic programme.

The present SGY class consists of 63 students drawn from Saltus, Bermuda High School for Girls, Berkeley Institute, Whitney Institute and Warwick Academy.

The students attend classes based on the British General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) and the American Advanced Placement (AP) programmes which prepare them for future academic success.

"For the past several years, all SGY students who have applied to universities have been accepted,'' Mr. Blagg explained. "Some to notable institutions like Yale, Princeton, Dartmouth, MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), William & Mary, the University of Edinburgh and the University of Virginia.''
