Paget Primary roof springs a leak
of taxpayers' dollars were spent getting it repaired.
The new roof was fitted to one of the buildings of Paget Primary School on Ord Road last September.
But, following recent thunderstorms, water began leaking through the new roof.
School principle Laverne Lau said: "It's not gushing down the walls but it does cause concern. There are five rooms in that building and there's several leaking spots in one room and one leaking spot in another.
"But it's just soaking the ceiling tiles, it's not as though it's dripping down. It hasn't disrupted classes.
The roof was rebuilt through the Government's Works and Engineering Ministry, which hired a contractor to carry out the work.
A Government spokesman played down the leak, claiming that the repair work would only cost a few hundred dollars.
"It's not uncommon when you have a new structure for there to be some shrinkage in the concrete and you get cracks,'' he said. "It's not unusual and it's no big deal.''
