Pensions Scheme without key personnel
been employed to implement the Pensions Act 1998.
The Pension Commission is seeking an operations officer and a pension officer by way of advertisements both in Bermuda and abroad.
RoseAnne Maxwell-Stovell, CEO of the Commission, yesterday said: "It is difficult to find pension professionals with regulatory experience here in Bermuda.'' Roger Titterton, chairman of the Commission, said: "The Pensions Commission have conducted a staffing review and developed a strategy that allowed us to be flexible until such time as all permanent staff are in place.'' He said the Commission intends to have "Bermudians assume all positions at the earliest possible date''.
Mrs. Maxwell-Stovell noted that an employee was not required to be covered by a new plan until the employee had worked 720 hours. Also, although plans must be in place and in compliance with the Act from January 1, 2000, they do not need to be approved by the Commission until June 30, 2000 for new plans and December 31, 2000 for plans in place before January 1.
