Pit-bull found in terrible condition
to help find and convict the owners of an emaciated dog which is in their care.
SPCA Inspector Louis Ray said he was willing to offer a $100 reward for information which would help him find and convict the owners of the pit-bull terrier he discovered on North Shore, Devonshire.
Mr. Ray said he received an emergency phone call at 10.55 a.m. on Sunday from a "good supporter of the SPCA'' who said "there was a dog in jeopardy''.
He said he responded immediately and found a stray pit-bull which was in deplorable condition. It only weighed 39 pounds but Mr. Ray said "that dog should weigh 75 pounds if it was healthy''.
"It was thinner than thin with two-inch long toenails,'' explained Mr. Ray.
He said he took "Red'' back to the shelter where he is keeping it under observation.
