But yesterday, sources said Mr. Lines will instead be named to another post. Dr. Saul would not comment yesterday on who would be named to the Senate. But he said he expected to make an announcement in the next week. Sen. Pitman, who former Premier Sir John Swan named to the Senate in May of 1994, became UBP chairman in December of 1993. Like Community and Cultural Affairs Minister and fellow Senator the Hon. Yvette Swan, he has been mentioned as a possible successor to the Hon. Sir John Sharpe as a UBP candidate in Warwick West. Mr. Scott, a lawyer who was named to the Senate in 1993, was recently elected caucus chairman. Because the chairman must be a member of either the House of Assembly or Senate, it was believed that election sealed his place in the Upper Chamber. Mr. Davis, also known as Mr. Khalid Abdul Wasi, is a member of the Human Rights Commission and the Bermuda Technical Institute Association.
