Planning permission sought
Development and Applications Board (DAB) to construct a new floating dock in St. George's.
A spokesman from the department of Works and Engineering said the application was one of several to build new docks for the replacement ferries.
There is currently a service from Dockyard to St. George's that runs twice a week in summer and the spokesman said that any increase in service would be up to the Ministry of Transport.
The floating dock will be built at Hunter's Wharf next to Penno's Wharf and will not interfere with the new waterfront promenade being constructed by the Corporation of St. George's.
The spokesman said Works & Engineering were in the process of finalising the design of the docks, and once approval was received, tenders would be offered.
The plan was expected to be finalised by the end of the year, with all of the docks being built by April 2002.
