Police detain teenage shoplifter
Pembroke woman in Magistrates' Court.
Rebecca Rebello, of Tablerock Avenue, was ordered to return to the court on December 14 for sentencing after she pleaded guilty to stealing the items.
The court heard that Police were patrolling near Miles Market on July 28 at around 10.30 a.m. when they were approached by members of the supermarket's management team.
They directed the officers' attention to a young woman -- Rebello -- who was walking away from them and claimed that she had been seen taking items from the store's shelves which she put in the pocket of her rain jacket. The Police stopped her and she turned over a flask of Black Seal. When the officers asked Rebello her name she became evasive and gave Police a false name.
While she was being questioned she revealed another stolen bottle of Black Seal and later admitted stealing a packet of Camel cigarettes also. A social inquiry report was ordered for the young woman who works as a painter and lives with her parents.
