In one, a Pembroke man returned from walking his dog to find about $2,500 had been taken from his home.

The thief had slipped into the Mission Lane property on Monday evening through an unlocked door.

Earlier that day an apartment in Harvey Road, Paget, was targeted by a burglar, who smashed a bedroom window to get in and stole jewellery worth roughly $500.

Thieves also broke into a home in Paget after breaking a bedroom window. They took about $300 in travellers cheques, credit cards, and other personal items.

In addition, an office in Wesley Street was broken into and about $70 removed.

Also taken was a shoulder bag, credit cards, and other items, worth a total of $435.

Police spokesman P.c. Gary Venning said: "We should once again remind residents and business proprietors alike to ensure their properties have adequate security and advise against keeping large quantities of cash on the premises.''
