Police led on high speed chase

He was fined $2,650.

Yesterday Junior Crown Counsel Veronica Gordon told the court officers saw Pearman speeding on Glebe Road around 10 p.m.

But he refused to stop for officers and instead raced away in a getaway attempt which included the Angle, King, Laffan, Elliott, Woodlands and Cedar Avenue streets.

Pearman eventually lost control of his cycle outside the Augustus Funeral Home on Elliot Street.

Yesterday Pearman told Senior Magistrate Will Francis he had had a "rough night'' on the night in question, but did not know why he committed the acts.

Mr. Francis banned Pearman from motorcycles for two years, and from all vehicles for one year.

And he fined him $500 for dangerous driving, $700 for riding an uninsured motorcycle, $400 for riding an unlicensed cycle, $450 for failing to give a breath sample, and $100 for failing to stop for Police.

Sean Reginald Tucker, of Broken Hill, Smith's Parish, yesterday appeared before Senior Magistrate Will Francis on charges of causing grievous bodily harm to Charles Mulinga outside a nightclub on January 19.

However, Mr. Francis yesterday interrupted Tucker as he attempted to explain the alleged assault.

"The burden of proof is on Police if they decide to continue,'' he said.

"It's like a game of tennis, the Police have served, you have hit it back over the net,'' he continued.

But Mr. Francis said if the Police couldn't get the ball "back over the net'' by proving their case, the "game'' would be over.

Mr. Mulinga was not in court yesterday.

MAN CHARGED WITH UNLAWFUL CARNAL KNOWLEDGE CTS Man charged with unlawful carnal knowledge A 33-year-old Pembroke man has been charged with having unlawful carnal knowledge of a teenage girl.

None of the names of the persons involved can be disclosed for legal reasons.

Yesterday Senior Magistrate Will Francis released the man on $500 bail and ordered him to have no contact with the complainant.

He is next scheduled to appear on July 2.
