only minutes apart -- yesterday blamed the Police for making him speed.

"Police come up behind you and make you speed,'' Orris Baker, of Cottage Hill, Hamilton Parish, told Magistrates' Court.

Baker admitted all six offences, which were for driving between 55 and 75 kph.

The most recent offence occurred on March 21 when he was stopped for driving at 75 kph.

Baker also pleaded guilty to driving an unlicensed, uninsured car.

On one speeding ticket, Mr. Francis asked Baker if he remembered the offence.

"I got so many of them,'' Baker replied, adding: "They (Police) need to get radar guns checked.'' Baker also pleaded guilty to a drug possession charge and four counts each of forgery and obtaining money by false pretence.

In 1995, Baker was arrested for possession of 4.23 grams of cannabis. He has seven prior convictions of cannabis possession dating back to 1984.

Senior Magistrate William Francis fined Baker $550 for the drug offence.

Baker, 34, had $1,510 with him when stopped by Police in connection with the drug offence which Police confiscated. The court ordered the $550 fine be paid with that money.

The forgery and false pretence charges stemmed from four separate occasions in March of this year where Baker used a Mermaid Beach Hotel charge account at a Warwick gas station. During purchases totalling $206.30, he used a false name.

But an employee overheard someone call Baker by his real name and Police were contacted.

Restitution to the gas station also come out of the $1,510.

For the drug, forgery, false pretence and traffic offences, Baker was fined a total of $3,330 and disqualified from driving a car for 18 months.
