Police probe series of burglaries
reports of numerous break-ins and thefts.
On Tuesday evening, a woman's Rolex watch was stolen from a couple's guest room at the Pink Beach Cottage Colony in Tucker's Town. The theft is believed to have happened between 5.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. while the pair went snorkelling.
The watch is described as having a salmon coloured face with engraved initials on the back.
A family's holiday plans were ruined after their tent was stolen from Black Bay, Sandys Parish, on Tuesday night. The tent had been put up by the family, who intended to spend the holiday camping. But when they returned to the site on Wednesday morning, they found the tent had been stolen.
An afternoon nap proved costly for one Pembroke woman, whose house was broken into while she slept. The thief broke in on Wednesday afternoon, getting away with a handbag containing cash and other personal items.
Two men, aged 26 and 32, are currently helping Police with their inquiries following a break-in at the Zig Zag Too store on Court Street on Wednesday night.
A BTU air conditioner and up to 30 cartons of cigarettes were taken in the raid.
A Warwick man claims he was robbed just before midnight on Wednesday as he walked past the Somerset Cricket Club on Cricket Lane.
The victim said he approached three men standing outside the club after recognising one of them. But another member of the group grabbed him and demanded cash, which the victim handed over.
The robber, who is described as dark-skinned, about five feet six inches tall and was wearing dark pants, then casually walked away. The complainant was not injured in the incident.
Also on Wednesday night a thief targeted the home of a Warwick Lane, Warwick resident. The complainant went to bed at about 12.30 a.m. and woke up the on Thursday morning to find that cash from two wallets had been stolen.
Another thief had a narrow escape after disturbing a guest at the Palmetto Bay Hotel in Smith's in the early hours of Thursday morning.
The visitor said he woke up at about 4 a.m. to find the shadowy figure of a slim-built man standing at the entrance hall of the cottage. The visitor shouted at the man who made off through the front door. A black leather wallet containing cash and a grey shaving kit bag were later discovered stolen.
