arising from Tuesday's armed robbery.

Frantic callers said they had to wait for someone to answer the line when they called to report the Bank of Butterfield's Somerset branch was being robbed.

"The 911 system is a single line system, which means that the number will not ring busy, but incoming calls will be queued,'' a Police spokesman explained.

"At the time the call was received, there were no less than eight other emergency calls received at the same time from a bank employee, alarm companies and area residents.

"After the first call was taken, units were dispatched literally within seconds of the call and officers proceeded with the remaining calls.'' The spokesperson said Police had no plans to review the system, adding: "It is a single line system, but three calls can be taken on three different phones and there is provisions for a forth phone. If there are still more calls, that is when the calls will be queued.''
