Policeman injured
Regiment in North Carolina yesterday.
Det. Con. Franklyn Foggo was hit in the mouth while taking part in a mock riot at Camp Lejeune.
He was taken to a North Carolina hospital, but his injuries are not life-threatening.
Det. Con. Foggo is part of a Police emergency response team which accompanies the Regiment on its annual exercise.
The incident occurred at about 5 p.m, said Police spokesman Sgt. John Dale last night.
He said Det. Con. Foggo was hit as he apparently peered round the corner of a building.
"A plastic bullet struck him in the mouth, and he received a nasty injury, losing some teeth,'' he said. "His injuries are not life-threatening, however.'' Sgt. Dale said Deputy Commissioner Alex Forbes and Det. Sgt. Steve Shaw have flown to Camp Lejeune to start an investigation.
