the Works and Engineering Ministry said yesterday.
Work on the $40-million capital project in Dockyard "continues to progress at a steady pace'', the Ministry said in press statement.
Services around the Normal Housing section have been installed and masonry work in the Industry and Recreation areas has been completed on the exterior walls from the bond beam level first floor up to the roof, according to the statement.
The column encasement for the area is in progress and masonry is almost complete in the main building which encompasses the dining, visiting and reception areas. The roof deck has been completed and the roofing finish is in progress in these sections.
Concrete and masonry shells have also been completed for the reception equipment rooms. And further work is being carried out on the security wall while the base-to-ground floor in the reception area is now ready for concreting.
Workmen are also plastering inside and outside the medical, administration, segregation, remand and secure sections.
In addition to this, installation of plumbing fixtures and painting is taking place.
Masonry work in the pre-release and maintenance sections is also underway.
"Barring any unexpected delays'', the Ministry is expecting progress to continue on the facility which is scheduled to open next September, the statement said.
