Rain causes flooding and washes out most sports
than on any other day of this sodden month.
US Naval Oceanography Command Facility weathermen recorded 2.75 inches, bringing the total amount of rainfall this month to 9.12 inches.
That figure is almost double the average June rainfall of 5.1 inches and, over the last 90 days, there has been 150 percent more rain than normal.
Bermuda's Fire Service had one of its busiest days yesterday, attending about a dozen incidents connected with the weather.
The worst case of flooding on a day when five properties were flooded was behind the Green Lantern restaurant in Bakery Lane, Pembroke, where part of the road was two feet under water at one stage.
Another problem for the Fire Service was the number of fire alarms which were triggered off by rain seeping through leaking roofs.
Fire officer Sgt. Manuel Lopes said: "This has definitely been one of our busier days. It's been all go.'' Flooding was made worse by overflowing water tanks, he said.
A full round of cricket matches, fitted dinghy sailing and the national cycling championships were all scrubbed because of the weekend rains.
