of the man who they claim attempted to murder seven uniformed officers on Hallowe'en night.

The officers were on patrol in a Police van on Ord Road near Paget Primary school at about 9.30 p.m. when the man threw a lit molotov cocktail at them.

The bomb hit the front of the van just below the windscreen and engulfed it in flames which then extinguished themselves.

No injuries were reported and the offender escaped through the grounds of the school.

Police spokesman Evelyn James Barnett said the charge is intended to reflect the seriousness with which the Police view such activity.

She added that Police are offering a substantial cash reward for any information that will lead to an arrest of those involved in the attack.

The suspect is described as a five-foot eight-inch tall, slimly built black male in his late 20s or early 30s.

At the time of the bombing he wore a red cloth that covered his head and face and red sweat pants. He was not wearing a shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Crimestoppers anonymous hotline at 1-800-623-8477.
