Rider fined

Trevor Smith, of Place's Point Road, Pembroke, was spotted swerving from side to side in the road on an auxiliary cycle at 1.10 a.m. on July 23.

Police officers watched him go around a bend and fall down at which point they approached him and noticed he smelt of intoxicants and was unsteady on his feet.

When asked if he had been drinking, continued Police prosecutor Sgt. Phil Taylor, Smith replied: "Yeah, I had a few bumpers.'' But when he was asked to give a sample of his breath, Smith said: "You cops can go to hell. I'm not taking a test.'' Senior Magistrate Will Francis fined the man and disqualified him from driving all vehicles for 12 months.
