Andrew B. Browne of Riviera Crescent pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to causing grievous bodily harm to Angelo Williams.

Insp. Peter Duffy, prosecuting, told the court that Browne appeared at Williams' Riviera Road residence on the evening of November 17, with the intention of retrieving the earphones. An argument followed over ownership of the equipment, and as Williams tried to walk away, Browne punched him in the jaw causing him to fall.

The argument continued even after the arrival of Williams' uncle, who lives on the same premises. The uncle's intervention prevented Browne from throwing his nephew over a wall, but Browne managed to punch his victim in the face again before leaving.

Police arrested the 23-year-old construction worker later that day. During questioning, Browne admitted the offence.

Insp. Duffy said Williams underwent surgery for his injuries, and must keep his jaw wired for a further three to four weeks.

Browne will appear for sentencing later this month after magistrate the Wor.

John Judge has read the social inquiry report.
