Row over rumours led to assault
believed he was spreading rumours about his girlfriend, Magistrates' Court heard on Friday.
Charles L. Symonds of Khyber Pass, Warwick, pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding when he appeared before Magistrate the Wor. John Judge. A social inquiry report was ordered.
Police prosecutor Insp. Peter Duffy said that on August 5, Symonds was at his girlfriend's home on Cambridge Road in Sandys when she told him about the rumours. She said they were false and being spread by a man she knew.
"After hearing of the rumours,'' said Insp. Duffy, "Symonds went to the work place of the man and confronted him. "Symonds asked him what his problem was.
He felt that the man was `acting ignorant' and took his helmet and struck him in the head twice. The man later received ten stitches to two wounds.'' After being arrested, Symonds admitted wounding the man but said that the false rumours about his girlfriend were making life difficult, added Insp.
Duffy.
Mr. Judge adjourned the case until August 28 when the report will be read.
