School suspends substitute teacher

A concerned parent, who did not wish to be named, told The Royal Gazette several students accused the male teacher of making sexual advances and innuendoes toward the children.

allegations were lodged against him.

A concerned parent, who did not wish to be named, told The Royal Gazette several students accused the male teacher of making sexual advances and innuendoes toward the children.

"One little girl told him he had wet spots under the arm and he said it was not the only place he was wet,'' the mother said.

"He has also made other remarks of a sexual nature to students. My concern is that this man is a sick person and should not be teaching.'' When contacted yesterday, principal Charlotte Ming said: "I am looking into that matter. He started with us on Monday. He will not be returning to Clearwater.'' She said the school will find other staff members to teach his subjects.

Substitute teachers are allocated to schools by the Education Department.

But Chief Education Officer Joseph Christopher yesterday said the matter was being handled by Mrs. Ming.

He added that Mrs. Ming had discussed the matter with the substitute teacher who had "another perception'' of the incidents.

The matter is under investigation by school officials.
