to be featured on its internationally-promoted Web site this month.

Saltus Grammar School's site, www.saltus.bm, will be seen on the Discovery Channel's School Spotlight site, http://discoveryschool.com/ on May 17, said the school's Director of Development G. Daniel Blagg.

The Discovery Channel School Spotlight Award called the Saltus site "a valuable service to the community'' and said it selected it because: It has a place for student projects/input; It has a place for teacher/parent Internet links; It has attractive, easy to download graphics and is easy to navigate; It has an identified Web master; It indicates that the school is actively involved with using the Internet in its curriculum; and It has been updated fairly recently.

Saltus Senior School Information Technology and Communications teacher John Gilhooly originally created the pages and continues as the site's Web master by co-ordinating input from students, teachers and clubs.

He said: "To me, one of the best things about our Web site is the input from students themselves.

"Some classes, and even some individual students, have created their own home pages and there is a lot of imagination, creativity and skill represented in this work.

"I am sure that the Discovery Channel judges were as impressed as I have been with some of this fine student work.'' The site carries many photos of current students and activities, alumni information, a history of the school and up-to-date facts and figures of school sporting events and coverage of its dramatic and musical presentations.

The Saltus home page will be able to include a special award logo on its home page and once May 17 passes, viewers will continue to be able to see the Saltus pages in the Discovery Channel's archive of schools which includes all the sites which have been featured in Spotlight.

Donation for success: Eugene Rayner of Aon Risk Services presents a $1,000 cheque to Debbie Jones of the Bermuda Diabetes Association. The funds will be used toward the Health for Success awareness campaign in schools.
