a guard dog who were responsible for catching one thief and scaring off another.

Mr. Jon Feldman director of the Mermaid Beach Club, said his firm's decision to purchase a guard dog recently was one of the better moves they have made.

"We're very pleased with the job that the dog has done for us,'' he said.

"It has certainly been a very good investment for us.'' On Saturday a guest at the hotel awoke around 3.30 p.m. because someone was cutting the fly screen of his patio door.

The guest confronted the intruder who ran away. The guest telephoned hotel security who then began a search of the property with the guard dog.

Shortly afterward the guard found the thief hiding in some bushes and made a citizen's arrest. He called Police who arrested the man and took him away.

Last Thursday morning the Mermaid Beach was again a target for thieves but the same security guard and dog scared the prowler off.
