The current vice president/general manager of the Sonesta Beach Resort & Casino in Curacao, John Murtha, has been named to the position of vice president/general manager here.

He succeeds Dennis Tucker who was recently promoted to the position of vice president/managing director in replacement of outgoing managing director Joseph Violi.

Sonesta's executive vice president Jacqueline Sonnabend, who oversees management of the property, said: "We are all excited to welcome John to Sonesta Bermuda and look forward to Dennis Tucker and John Murtha working together on behalf of our guests and employees.'' Between 1977 and 1988 he held various positions with Sonesta including general manager of the Sonesta Hotel in Portland, Maine; corporate director of Projects and Purchasing; hotel manager at Sonesta Beach Resort in Key Biscayne; and assistant general manager at Royal Sonesta Hotel in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
