An American visitor injured in a jet ski accident is considering whether or not she will pursue legal action over the incident.

Christine Alfano, 23, of Melrose, Massachusetts, suffered a double break of her left leg in the incident, which happened when she was jet skiing in Castle Harbour in June.

Pins were inserted in her leg and doctors have told Ms Alfano she wil not be able to walk unaided again bfore September at the earliest.

Speaking from her home, the pre-school teacher said she and her family were still weighing up their actions in respect of any possible legal action over the crash.

"We just don't know about the legal aspect yet,'' she said. "It was a really bad break. I still can't put any weight on my leg. The doctors say it takes a long time to heal.'' A visitor on the cruise ship Norwegian Majesty , Ms Alfano was riding a jet ski in Castle Harbour with friends, when her machine was involved in a collision with another jet ski.

The jet ski had been hired from Marriott Castle Harbour Resort's water sports operator Blue Water Divers.
