Son who threatened mother fined $600

three-month suspended prison sentence and a $600 fine in Magistrates' Court yesterday for threatening his daughter's guardian.

Magistrate the Wor. Cheryl-Ann Mapp told Kevin Outerbridge of St. George's to use "the proper channels'' to gain access to the child.

"Certainly the kind of behaviour you have been displaying is not proper for a person who is in charge of a small child,'' Mrs. Mapp said. "You cannot be allowed to conduct yourself in such a manner.'' The 26-year-old admitted displaying threatening behaviour on May 9, 1992, and using threatening words on May 12 and December 5, 1992, against his mother, Mrs. Norriette Fox, in St. George's.

The court heard that Mrs. Fox apparently has temporary legal custody of the girl, who was three-years-old at the time of the incidents.

Outerbridge, who is not married to the child's mother, said he had helped raise the child "since she was three weeks old'' and only wants to continue his relationship with her.

He also said a "custody schedule'' had already been drawn up between himself, his mother and the child's mother.

"In that regard, all I can do is advise you to take out an application for access,'' said Mrs. Mapp. "Then the child's mother will have to come to court and explain the situation.''
