Aetna Life Insurance Company yesterday afternoon turned down the hotel company's proposal to buy the 400-room South Shore property it has been managing for 33 years.

Aetna Life Insurance Company yesterday afternoon turned down the hotel company's proposal to buy the 400-room South Shore property it has been managing for 33 years.
Sonesta managing director Mr. David Boyd said he did not know the reason for Aetna's rejection of Sonesta's offer.
Mr. Tom Dudeck, Aetna's managing director, declined to comment on the reasons.
"It was just our judgement that it was a transaction we chose not to pursue,'' he said.
