Spaces left in summer camps
One of the camp's organisers, Deidre Otway, said even though all the camps for primary students were full, there was still space in two specialty camps, Performing Arts Camp and Summer Style 97.
The Performing Arts camp, which started on July 21 at St. Paul's Church in Paget and ends August 29, is for children between the ages of 11 and 13.
The camp will cover theatre, vocals, and dance. It has been running in its present form for the past three years.
Summer Style 97 will focus on teaching students proper etiquette, about AIDS, careers, modelling and adulthood.
Style 97 begins on Monday and runs until August 29 at St. Mark's Church in Smith's Parish.
NEW LICENCES AVAILABLE FHP GVT New licences available The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries will begin issuing lobster diving licences for the 1997/98 season on Monday.
Anyone interested in obtaining one can apply at the Division of Fisheries Office on Coney Island, St. George's from August 4 to August 29 between the hours of 8.45 a.m. to 5.p.m. daily.
However, only new applicants will have to apply to the Coney Island Office in order to obtain a photo identification.
People who were licensed for the 1996/97 season need only re-apply by mail.
They are asked to send in their licence and a cheque for $120, payable to the Accountant General, to the Fisheries Division.
But people holding licences from last season who did not submit statistics for the season will not be re-licensed.
The Department also noted that commercial lobster trap fishermen were not eligible to apply for a sport lobster diving licence.
MUSEUM TO RE-OPEN *** LIB Museum to re-open Part of the building housing the Island's main library will re-open on Monday.
Bermuda Historical Society president Andrew Bermingham yesterday announced that the society's museum will reopen following the Cup Match holiday.
The Bermuda National Library, which shares Par-la-Ville with the Historical Society, has been closed since February 14 after asbestos was found in the ceiling.
It was initially scheduled to re-open in May.
But during renovations, it was discovered that the building required additional structural changes and rewiring.
Works and Engineering Minister C.V. (Jim) Woolridge has not given a date for the library re-opening. But he has asked the public to be patient, promising the renovated library will be the equivalent of "a brand-new building''.
Meanwhile, Mr. Bermingham said: "We wanted both residents and visitors to be aware that the Historical Society will be opening, and to encourage them to enjoy the Society.'' VISITORS HIT SIGN . . .
