out if she will be suspended from the House of Assembly by Speaker Stanley Lowe.

Yesterday Mr. Lowe was playing his cards close to his chest on what he will do after Ms Gordon failed to apologise when asked to last week.

He even declined to say whether he was likely to insist on the apology or what he would do if it was not forthcoming.

Mr. Lowe said: "I can't say anything. I can't even respond to that, even if I wanted to.'' Ms Gordon was asked to apologise after a clash with Health and Social Services Minister Nelson Bascome following an all-out attack on the leadership style of Premier Jennifer Smith.

Ms Gordon slammed Premier Jennifer Smith's leadership style and said she acted more like a "social princess'' reading out her "personal diary'' than the leader of a country.

Mr. Bascome hit back saying Ms Gordon's speech sounded like "jealousy'' and he called her the "dethroned princess.'' Ms Gordon demanded an apology from Mr. Bascome but Mr. Lowe ruled he had not crossed the line on behaviour.

But when Ms Gordon questioned "the degree of justice'' in the House of Assembly, Mr. Lowe asked for an apology from her.

Ms Gordon remained silent in her seat before rising and storming out of the chamber.

As it was the last sitting of the House before the Easter break, Ms Gordon may have to wait until the House resumes on May 19 before she learns what the Speaker has decided.

Ms Gordon has insisted she has nothing to apologise for.

She said: "I really believe there was some disparity in the way things were handled.

"That does not mean the Speaker was unjust or unfair. But that's for the Speaker to judge. If the Speaker believes he was just, no action needs to be taken.'' Ms Gordon has revealed that the Opposition has written several times to Mr.

Lowe in recent months to register concerns about standards of behaviour and the imposition of discipline in House debates.

She has also accused Government -- particularly Premier Jennifer Smith -- of attempting to influence the Speaker's decisions from the sidelines.
