Speed merchant exceeded 102 kph
Thirty-four-year-old Clifton Anderson, of Bob's Valley Drive, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court speeding at 102 kph.
Police saw him on Middle Road, Southampton, and he was stopped at Old South Road.
When asked why he was speeding, he responded that he was answering an urgent call concerning one of his children. He also said that he needed transportation because he had four children to support.
Senior Magistrate Will Francis fined him $1,000 and disqualified him from driving motorcycles for three years.
STORE SECURITY OFFICERS OBSERVED WOMAN STEAL CTS Store security officers observed woman steal A Pembroke woman was fined $200 yesterday for stealing.
Twenty-six-year-old Jacqueline Kate Pullin, of Langton Lane, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to the charges.
Crown counsel Charmaine Smith said that on November 1 Pullin was observed by store security placing two items in her bag -- a hairbrush worth $4.65, and a box of Tampax worth $14.45.
They followed her as she left the store, before stopping her and asking her to return. At the store Pullin was asked to hand over the shopping bag and the property was returned.
She was then arrested and taken to Hamilton Police Station where she admitted having stolen the items, but denied stealing anything else.
Later, after questioning, Pullin admitted having stolen pants worth $34 from H A & E Smith. The property was recovered.
In court, Pullin apologised, saying she was really sorry, that she regretted what she had done and that it would never happen again.
Senior Magistrate Will Francis fined her $100 for each count totalling $200.
POLICE SAW DRUNKEN MAN DRIVING UNSTEADLY CTS Police saw drunken man driving unsteadily Impaired driving cost a Pembroke man $450 and his licence yesterday.
Thirty-seven-year-old Mikael Jensen, of Spanish Point Road, was observed by Police travelling north on Court Street just ahead of them at 1.35 a.m.
They noticed he was driving in an unsteady manner and swerving from side to side. He then made a right turn onto Victoria Street barely missing a sidewalk.
Police ordered Jensen to stop on King Street. As he was doing so he struck the curve.
When asked if he had been drinking, he replied: "A couple.'' He was taken to Hamilton Police Station where a breath sample was taken, revealing 242 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
The legal limit is 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
Jensen apologised to the court and Senior Magistrate Will Francis fined him $450 and took him off the road for 12 months.

Twenty-nine-year-old Albert Easton, of Lapsley Lane, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to driving while impaired on October 9.
Crown counsel Charmaine Smith told the court that at 10.20 p.m. Police noticed Easton driving on Middle Road, Sandys travelling in an easterly direction.
They observed that his driving was erratic, that he swerved across the centre line, and that he would brake for no reason.
Easton was stopped by Police at the junction with Whale Bay Road.
They noticed that his eyes were glazed, his speech was slurred and that his breath smelled of intoxicants.
When asked if he had been drinking, he replied: "I had two Amstels three hours ago.'' He was taken to Hamilton Police Station where a breath sample was taken which revealed 92 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
The legal limit is 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
Easton asked the court for leniency, but was denied by Senior Magistrate Will Francis.
Mr. Francis fined him $300 and disqualified him from all motor vehicles for 12 months.
